A Letter of Solidarity for Pittsburgh
All of us at Hand in Hand – Jews, Muslims, and Christians, are shocked and heartbroken to hear about the horrific attack in Pittsburgh this weekend. The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh and the city’s Jewish community have been long-time friends and supporters of the Hand in Hand Galilee School, and we send our deepest condolences and solidarity to them.
Manar Hayadre, Galilee School Principal said:
“We are horrified by what happened yesterday in the name of hatred. I believe that especially in times of hatred and violence, we need to stand together. The Pittsburgh community has been supporting our school for so many years. They have enabled hundreds of Jewish and Arab children to learn together, and build a world with less hatred, and more equality and inclusion. We are grateful to them and they are deep in our hearts today.”
We mourn this horrible loss of life and wish those injured a full and speedy recovery. We only hope and advocate for a more equal and peaceful society here in Israel and around the world.
