International Women's Day: Empowering women and girls in our Jerusalem school
At the Max Rayne Hand in Hand Jerusalem School, a group of 10th graders who have been meeting weekly to discuss issues of gender and feminism put together a series of workshops and events, including a ceremony honoring the important women in their lives for International Women’s Day March 8.
“I wanted the younger students to become aware of women leaders who are so often overlooked and forgotten. It’s important that girls know that they can take space, that we don’t have to stay in the background. And it’s not only about equality for women. Boys also suffer because they learn that they’re not allowed to cry or show emotion – we all benefit from being aware and trying to change this.” – Rama, 10th grade student
